I am making a Difference at Talbot Humane

Join me in supporting Talbot Humane create a community of less animals in need, which means less animals suffering everyday.

If you've known me for any amount of time, you know how much I love animals. That's why I'm proud to once again be supporting Talbot Humane by running my second half marathon with their running group, Unleashed. As part of my commitment to running a half marathon for the animals, I'm raising money for Talbot Humane so they can continue doing the amazing work they do for the animals in our community.

I started volunteering at another local animal shelter several years ago by walking dogs a couple of times a week. I loved giving each of the dogs a chance to get out of their kennels and get them some exposure in the community, hoping that someone would see them, fall in love, and bring them home. Unfortunately there are usually a few dogs that end up being stuck in the shelter for a very long time. These are the ones that I would get very attached to after spending so much time with them. When a dog spends that much time in a shelter (i.e. 6 months to a year), you start to get desperate and look at other options as the stress of shelter life starts to take a toll on them. For 3 of these dogs, I was getting REALLY desperate to find homes for them, and was striking out everywhere. This was how I really got to know Talbot Humane. They jumped in and offered to take the 3 dogs I was most worried about - Tobias, Gracie, and Diamond. I was so incredibly grateful for what they did to help each of these dogs find homes, and was eager to support them in any way that I could.

Running with their 'Unleashed' running group has been a perfect way for me to raise money and awareness for them, so they can continue supporting other dogs like Tobias, Gracie, and Diamond (who all found homes within a couple of months after Talbot Humane stepped in to help).

Talbot Humane has done tremendous things for our community - not only helping animals in need, but helping to push new legislation for the protection of animals, and help keep pets with their families when times get tough.
